1988 Scott Boulder

Picked this up yesterday, a 1988 Scott Boulder. Thought I would pop some pictures up as there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of info online for these old Scott's so it may help someone in the future.

Looks pretty original aside from the usual items, saddle, tyres, grips and also obviously the bars. Plan is to give it a clean up, swap the above items for something more period correct, and then see if its a keeper or not.

What did you end up thinking about it? There's one near me priced well, I'm tempted to pick it up, but it's a little older than my interests.

It's not bad to be fair. I've ridden it a few times but I've got so many bikes nothing gets used excessively aside from my modern stuff really. I left the slicks on it and was using it on the local fire roads when it was dry and it was good. If its cheap enough I would certainly go for it. I must like it as I bought another Scott a few weeks back.

AC75FEF6-5CFA-40B1-8F6A-21124ACB026A.jpeg That’s really nice, good job on making it look more ‘period’. I like the old steel Scott bikes, there doesn’t seem to be that many around. I have a ‘93 Tacoma which has the full XT as standard, really nice to ride.

That boulder in the OP is absolutely superb. Love it.

Even better with appropriate tyres bars and seat.

The geometry and colours are spot on, superb quality bike when British mfrs were still churning out lugged nonsense.
