1988 Mountain Goat Deluxe

Hello All,

Here are some pictures my 1988 Mountain Goat Deluxe, recently acquired. It is painted a deep metallic purple with yellow and white kisses. I'll try and get some better pictures to show the colors over time. It has plenty of scuffs and scratches, particularly on the left side, but looks nice overall. It is a 17” frame with Campagnolo cranks, XT derailleurs and shifters, a Ritchey Force stem, Specialized bars, Strong seat post, Sun Chinook rims, and XT hubs. It showed up from the seller as is and I have only cleaned it up and put on a saddle for the wife.

Hope you like it, Doug

Wow, what a beauty. I haven't seen many of these in smaller sizes, looks great. Loose the saddle asap though!!

EDIT - If the saddle is so that your good lady can use it, then thats great. would be lovely to see some photos with a nicer one on though!

I thought about changing the saddle for pictures, but it is for the wife to use and that is her preference. The only thing showed up with the bike that did not appear to be from an original build was a worn Brooks saddle with bright yellow springs, rotted street tires and plastic pedals. I'm glad my wife liked the paint job and wants to keep it for herself, at my urging, otherwise - it's a bit small for me, and to keep it I would have be reclassified as a "collector".

The story I got regarding whose lips were used for the paint is that Jeff Lindsay got some girls at a beauty shop down the street from the Mountain Goat location to kiss paper cards with lipstick on and they made stamps from the images. Russ Pickett says he still has the stamps.

Hello Again, I'm adding a few new picts to the thread, with a different saddle, as I'm planning on entering it in the Bike of the Month Contest, Patina Special. Find Following:

Re:

The color of the bike is difficult to bring out with my camera, but here are a couple where it shows up better.
