I got this frame from @August Bicycles towards the end of last year, at a good price too (thanks Gav). It did have a small dent in the top tube which Gav filled with brazing before sending out.

I shelved it for a good while waiting for better weather as I knew I’d have to paint it. Wasn’t sure whether to do the whole frame or not but in the end decided against it as I wanted to keep as much of the original paint and decals as possible.
In the end I’ve sanded the whole frame and then painted the top tube blended into the rest of the frame in a graphite grey colour. Subtle but different enough from the purple so it doesn’t clash or stand out too much.
Me and my son then applied some splatter which is an effect I love but also helps detract from the many battle scars and paint chips this frame has!

As it is now after a coat of lacquer. Time to get it built up now..

Made some good progress with this today.

I’m trying to keep this light so that’s kind of steered me in a resto-mod direction. Carbon bars and seatpost and 1x9 with a sram xo rear mech.
I’ll do a full spec list when it’s finished but it’s just the brakes to do now. I have a few choices but I’ll give it some thought and see.
Did a quick no-brakes sketchy test ride and it feels really good, nice to be back on a decent 90’s hardtail - I’ve been diving into 80’s atb’s a fair bit recently.
