Retro Newbie
Hi.
Just signed up today but have been reading for a while. I've got a couple of MTB's in good nick that I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about them. First is a 1988 GT outpost (Pre triple triangle) and second is a British Eagle Zig Zag.
I'll try and attach a photo (of the GT). Zig Zag at relatives house but will get a pic up later this week. I'm considering selling the GT so any history, thoughts etc would be most welcome..

How odd, I too have both those bicycles!
The Zigzag I have is from 1992. They're Reynolds 500 tubing, which is nothing too special, and it cost £219 brand new. Spec was low-end Shimano and there were no special bits on it, it was just a run of the mill entry level mtb. It was my dad's first mountain bike, and shortly after he got it, I got my first proper mountain bike which was a GT Outpost Trail. The Zigzag was handed down to me and got ragged stupid, I took it to uni and then commuted on it for my first two years in work. Eventually the headtube ovalised and it's now in the attic, along with my Outpost which is far too small for me. Got real fond memories of that bike and have been keeping an eye out for another for a while. Please post a pic!
There's some pictures of mine here:

And welcome to the site!

Quite a coincidence! I've put the outpost on ebay as we need the space and it's too small for me. I'll post Zig Zag pics as soon as I get it back. Nothing special but I've been using it for the last 20 years and still am. Just replaced brakes with V type (miles better) and am slowly replacing the worn parts.
