1983 Raleigh Rapide frame, 58cm, repainted.

Bought this frame a while back as a pub frame, built it up but clearance was just too tight for mudguards. I’ve had it sandblasted and I’ve re-sprayed it with a ‘Charlie white pearl’ not an exact replica colour but close.

Had H.Lloyd make me up a set of reproduction decals with the green details as per the 1983 catalogue.

I took the opportunity while it was naked to braze on a second set of bottle bosses as 2 is better than one for long rides.

It’s a 531 frame with race geometry and tight clearances, it’s a joy to ride but like I said it won’t take mudguards so couldn’t fill my niche.

I wanted to restore it and pass it on as a good value solid start to a project to someone on the forum so I’m just aiming to break even.

Sprayed from a gun (not a rattle can) with a 2 part automotive clear coat over the decals so a robust paint job.

I think it’s the original headset, Tange Levin in excellent condition, new seat bolt and dropout screws.

The bottom bracket has been chased and faced with the park tools gizmo as well so now it’s super straight on the shell.

Based just outside Bristol (Nailsea) but can post, would need to get a quote but probably something around £10-15. A full bike is about £30 to post

Re:

Hi, I may be interested. You’ve done a good job in restoring it plus braze-ons.
Could you tell me what you make the axle to crown race seat measurement?
Matt.

From the centre of the axle at the front dropout it’s about 375mm to the bottom of the crown race, 365mm to the centre of the brake mount hole and 360mm to the underside of the fork. Hope that helps
