Saved from a dark and lonely exsistence in a mates shed..and sadly too large for me to ride...

1983 Record ace in good original condition. It is used, but sparingly..has scuffs and scrapes associated with its age..so not a minter, but a good honest bike.

Spec as was..with the exception of the mudguards and tyres.

Reynolds 531 frame and forks with Suntour dropouts.
22.5" CC top tube, 22.5 CC seat tube.

Campag Gran Sport mechs, shifters and skewers. Weinman 605 brakeset, Weinman rims on Normandy hubs. Sakae bars,Raleigh branded stem. Sugino GS Chainset and complete with upgraded Campag pedals and toeclips. Note that one end cap is missing and the other scraped.

Original brown cloth bar tape and brown suede saddle.

Have no real idea of value.
So will start at £350 and play it by ear.

Please chime in if thats unrealistic, as I need to sell her to free up space.

Oops, maybe a little to high....hows £225 ?

Cheers K

LOVELY bike Keith...
No doubt it rides like a dream too. I have an Gran Sport from around the same period and it's one of the nicest frames I have got..

Have a bump for a beautiful bike

I have a very original 83 Record Ace, but preserve it as is now, I am having a Gran Sport frame modified to take Sti gears and 130mm spacing at the rear end, sprayed as a Record Ace with the original Raleigh transfers as on your 84 model, unfortunately a Record Ace has clearances for 27" wheels but I want to blend the workmanship and class of a traditional steel frame with the benefits of modern components, the Gran Sport has the history of being built by Raleigh, and the work is being carried out by Dave Marsh and his team of former Raleigh/Carlton framebuilder, so will maintain a lot of genuine Raleigh heritage

I will take the new one for a ride out to the Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft, near Doncaster where my original is now on display for all to enjoy the benefit, and photograph the two Record Aces together and post the pics
