1961 Raleigh superbe (Helio)

If you plan on stripping it down to bare metal I would recommend adding a coat of rust proofing to the frame if you can. I was looking at the book on this bike and noticed a section which talked about it's finish "Spra-Bonderised rust proof surface" is what is described about it

I've not read your thread in detail yet, but some of the bike at least looks the same as this BSA Sports that I have just picked up. V similar looking chain case anyway. I'll be looking to do a similar preservation job on it and might be asking you for some close-up pics, not least of the chain case chainstay bracket which I am missing.

So I gave up using the striper wheel tool as even the enamel paint was bleeding out of it so for the forks I just masked off the parts to do and painted it by hand. It's not perfect but I don't have many options

I just discovered that my bike has the wrong lamp on it. Tried to order a replacement front lamp shell for a sports model and it was smaller than the one I have on. So I assume a Roadster lamp somehow ended up on my Sports model before I got it. I had no idea honestly
