No photo's but a quick update. For whatever reason, I have four primary bike builds going on right now, so nothing is happening quick. Two mid 80's vintage Ritcheys, a Champion Cruiser converted to a early Mtb and the prewar "C". The goal with the Champion and the "C" is too keep things pre 1981 which is helping keep the part searches for both these builds overlapping. I want to keep the Champion looking fresh and almost new, while the goal with the "C" is to get that authentic, used, funky, Pantina heavy, unique parts all blended together for a synergistic look.
Parts list acquired for the "C" so far (as always, all subject to change on a whim):
Prewar C frame
Tange 1200 fork
Ashtabula stem
VDC cruiser bars
Suntour thumbies
Magura or Diacompe brake levers (hmm).
Schwinn forebrake drum brakes front and rear.
Ukai blue rims
KKT blue Rat trap pedals
TA cranks
TA Rings
TA BB (spindle length permitting)
Suntour Cyclone Front Der.
Still slow track seeking (read looking for the right price):
Suntour Winner Freewheel
Sutour Cyclone rear der.
American to Euro BB adaptor.
? tires
Brooks B72 Saddle.
Aluminum solid rod post.
? grips
One thing about klunker builds is each part becomes a vintage labor of love. No going out and buying a donor bike to snag most of the parts from, They won't fit, or a new complete groupset like you would if it was new frame. Its a lot of fun trying to get it all to fit. Hats off to the boys from MDC who first determined what would be good to graft on.
