I agree.
When I go in a bike shop today, all the bikes are quite similar and built around fashion. There's no revolution bikes like I discovered in the beginning of the 90ies. Today bike are like "kleenex" with a short time of live.

I hope that my Attitude or my Merlin will be still iconic bikes

Think Perry and CTK are on the right track....


think about what drives you now, and apply it fast-forward style to the teens and twenty-somethings of today.

Higher end downhill, slope-style, 4x, and urban frames fom the builders who make the kids palms sweat will be where they spend their middle-aged dollars.


That being said, I just added another Spooky to my stash.

cool when we are in our 50's

for me it will still be a easy question to answer, you know what floats my boat now and it will probably be the same type of stuff.

if i had to name them it would be........
1 - any lefty, i love the look they get and the madness of it all.
2 - Tomac TAOS. i would happily have one of these just for that massive piece of alu on show

The rest of the modern stuf will be confined to the scrap the scarp heap as it just all to samey samey.

Klein

Well Klein bikes are and will forever be vintage classics. That being said, 20 yrs from now they will really be classics. The '01-'02 Klein Adept is a Trek Klein but still made in the good ol' "out sourcing" US of A. It's unique "X" design is not something you see everyday. Yes it is the bike i have and my pride and joy but in my opinion...future classic! thanks

Agree, Klein will always be coverted and I'm sure as tiem passes teh Trek ones will be too.

The Breezer has a fugly rear end so won't be a future classic lol

In 20 years time when they've got money they'll be buying the stuff that they couldn't afford.

I think you've hit the nail on the head for a lot of it there, how many of us go chasing the bikes or bits that we lusted after when we couldn't afford them back in the day. Think hope bits and stuff like tune and kcnc will be future retro, not so sure about bikes like a few people of said lots of them arn't much different from each other, although the Ibis mojo is nice
