10sp front mech 9sp system Q

sorry if its been done to death..

will a 10sp (Sram X0 3) front mech work with 9sp chainrings & 9sp chain?

I imagine the cage of the front mech is a smidge narrower but that it should be possible to set up without rubbing issues? or will it always struggle to clear lowest and highest cogs?

I've not tried it, but recon you'd be ok. 9sp front mech works fine with 8 and 7sp, so guess it'd be fine.
