1" forks

got some pace forks and two steerers can swap them round for 1"or 1 1/8" for different bikes. have a look around there are a few forks where steerers can be swapped

Ive just purchased a 1" retro zoom stem that im hoping to mate to a set of forks at a later date :D

Silly question time will this stem work with a set of suspension forks that have no thread on the steerer ??

No, that's a quill stem designed to fit into a threaded fork.. An 'ahead' stem is what you need to fit a threadless fork

Can anyone tell me how to remove the headset cups from the frame please ?

get an old pair of alloy handlebars or (better) a copper pipe and use it as a drift to smack them out with your biggest mallet. The best version of this tool has a cross cut into the end so that the tool comes into contact with the cup in four places, like this:

If you plan to re-use the headset on a different bike / with different forks, don't forget you will need to remove the crown race which sits on the top of the fork crown, I just use a hefty old flat spanner.

There are also tools to DIY fit the headset cups yourself if you rather not smack 'em in, such as:

though you may need to gently tap the cups in first with a mallet. Steel cups are quite tough, alloy / aluminium ones aren't so beware.

Cheers for that Dead Rats, i didnt pay alot for the zoom stem so it gives me the option to keep my forks if i dont go for a suspension fork.

I will be putting a new headset into the frame, do they need pressing in or will a firm tap get the new headset in ??
