🍊 clockwork build for her indoors

I thought this was going to be the 1970's northern comedy circuit appreciation thread!

Bike looks great, my Prince loving wife would commend you highly for the purple detailing

Thank you .
I was thinking minder and Arthur Daley with the her in doors 👍

i think that looks really good, but i have 2 questions, why are you using an insert guide for one of the cables as opposed to just using the cable stop itself? and the brakes levers, aren't they the non V brake version of the lever? m737? as opposed to the V brake version m739? and if they are m737 aren't they spongey?

other than those questions which i guess they'll be a sensible answer anyway i think you have done a really nice job on that. i did a similar-ish build on a 95-ish P7 where the nickel was rough, ended up selling it because i also had a mint nickel p7 but the those style frames in white look really classic and clean

Hi jonny thanks .
Yes I think they look great in white , I also sent a rough looking nickel p7 for a white powder coat but I never built it because my son won't ride a 19" and wants a 21 " like mine 🙄
And 21s aren't often for sale .

Anyway yes your 100% about the brifters they were 738s on there when I initially built it up .
I was building it to take on holiday so the wife could ride with me and the boys .
I had to finish it the day before we went but I had a bargain pair of 739 brifters and the v's (£23 posted) in the post and was hoping they'd be with me in time but wasn't to be .
They were waiting for me when we got back from holiday and have since been fitted .
As for the cable guides they were on the frame when it arrived although they weren't visible in the pic from the seller so I didn't investigate it fearing someone had drilled it out or something I just left them on initially. ( turned out to fine though )
Oh yeah brakes worked well but did feel spongey 👍 20220127_170709.jpg 20220127_170715.jpg

There's just 2 little bits that bug me and that's the inner tubes , there for deep rims so when I can be bothered to I'll change them , I've got a few laying around .
And the rear wheel could do with new spokes as there's about 6 odd ones .
Apart from that even though it's to small for me it's great fun for a little spin .
