£10 to fit a spoke! Rediculous. I even supplied the spoke!

Admittedly they did true and round my wheels which weren't perfect but £10 for a spoke fitting. A job that takes 2 minutes!

I would of done it myself but no torque key for the Disc on my rear wheel. :(

I will admit though my wheels are perfectly straight and round. I just wish it didn't cost so damn much!

That's not the worst of it. Another shop who supplied the spoke said it'd be Friday at best when I got my wheel back.

For a 10 minute job that's bloody stupid.

Anyone else had laughable moments like this?

doesn't sound too bad to me.

so they removed a disc, fitted a spoke not supplied by them (alot of places would say they'd only fit parts supplied by them, short sighted as that may be) and then spent time sorting it out, then re fitted the disc.

far from a 2 minute job.

speaking as an ex shop manager and mechanic on wages that were at best only 50 a week above minimum wage.

sorry but i think that deserves one of these >

edit, just noticed you said "wheels" aswel meaning plural.

£10 is about right, spoke from my lot would have been a £1 too

If you want it done properly and all that.

£10 is a very fair price to have this done properly. Would you work for peanuts?

So one more  from me.

To do this properly takes a lot more than 2 minutes.

BTW I'd have charged you £15 here inDenmark. Tyre would have been off. Wheel would have been checked radially and laterally in a £850 truing stand.

Still feel ripped off?

gotta say £10 to remove the disc fit a spoke and then true up all round is about right a good 30 mins work we used to charge £25+ vat at the shop when i was there now both local shops charge £30 an hour plus vat and are flat out with work so i personally think £10 is a good price  :D

So they fit the spoke - 2 minutes. They then true and round your wheels. They also invest in the right tools for the job.

For a pair of wheels, my LBS charges £25 for a re-tension, true and re-dish (on the rear). At a tenner you've done well yet you complain.

I'm with johnnyboy, have another

To be honest if you were a regular there they would have done it for diddly and you'd have dropped in a pack of biccies to say ta. But if you buy all your bits from CRC, ebay and such then they have to make their money somewhere. The interwebs undercuts every high street shop on retail price, where the LBS makes its money is on what the internet retailers can't do, repairs.
