    Identifying Dawes 531 Super tourist

BS6102 is a British Standards specification for safety requirements for bicycles. BR-AT50 is the model number of the brakes and they were made from 1986 to 1993 according to Velobase - https://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=2B99F8D4-1D96-4F69-BD3F-45B38DD7B7B9 The frame number could be...

    DeRosa grail bike

I think it means this is the one, long dreamed of, long searched for, the holy grail of De Rosas as far as the OP is concerned.

Wanted 34t chainring for Campagnolo 10 speed chorus chainest

I am 99.9% certain I have one of those along with a matching 50t outer in the loft. They came off a Veloce chainset but the rings look nicer than the stamped ones Veloce usually have. I will have a look when I get home and get some photos up if so.

Bother, I forgot about this - I've entered an Audax on the same day so can't make it after all.

    Tony Doyle passed away RIP

Top rider and a really nice bloke. He was guest speaker at one of our club dinners back in the day and was the best we ever had. Very relaxed and entertaining.

Classic Bike Show Leeds 13 May

I'll see if I can make it to the show but judging from the gallery on the Bygone Bykes website my bikes are all at least 60 years too young!!!

For Sale Raleigh 653 forks - bare metal

Hi, I have some forks for sale that originally came off a Raleigh 653 Race frame (catalogue number 8901). They were white and pink originally. I ran them on one of my bikes for a couple of years then stripped the paint off with a view to getting them sprayed to match the frame. In the meantime...

Can you get a Bike on a Motorcycle..?

I remember somebody once arriving at a time trial on a Vespa-style scooter with his bike somehow attached to it. It was a long time ago so no idea how he did it but I seem to recall it was transverse, maybe with the wheels removed.

Andy Thompson 1978 lo pro pursuit track bike info

As it's a track bike (no brake drillings) perhaps they went for stiffness over light weight?

    What model Daccordi?

That was definitely the case in 1986/87 (can't remember now which year it was!) when I bought my frame. You specified the size, colour, amount of chrome, internal or external rear brake cable and what tubing you wanted. As a lightweight rider on a 54cm frame I went with SL but could have had SLX...

    Road bike beyond repair ?

Nice looking bike - I agree it looks like you have tubular tyres (tubs for short) so they'll be glued onto the rims. The spokes look pretty rusty so would probably need replacing before trying to ride far, so new wheels might be best all round. It shouldn't be too hard to get hold of some good...

    86 Raleigh competition, all original?

It certainly looks pretty much original although it's slightly different to the picture and the spec sheet in this 1986 catalogue. The differences could be down to the catalogue not being 1986 or your bike being a different year or Raleigh making things up as they went along. Have you confirmed...

Bob Jackson to close after all

Re: Re: Very nice - check out those quads! Classic time trial setup - the Boro' must have been nice and smooth to make 150psi bearable! Great time for those conditions, the tail wind never makes up for the head wind when it's that strong and you've struggled to keep on top of the gear on the...

That must have been before Jacksons (allegedly) started painting Woodrup frames!!!

Bob Jackson to close after all

It's all very confusing from the outside! I wonder how Tony Woodrup is going to find the new young blood to build the frames if Donald couldn't? - "“None of the old staff are carrying on for now,” confirmed Woodrup. “We’ll be bringing in new blood, bringing in new apprentices." With all the old...

    Campagnolo Gran Sport Brake Caliper

Okay, I've found it but it looks to be standard reach. Putting it in place of my Super Record short reach caliper the blocks are right at the top of the slots whereas on the SR ones the blocks are halfway down the slots.
