Interview with Neville Cork of Nevil Cycles!

I have been searching for Neville Cork for a long time. His super cool east coast bikes, the folklore behind his company, and the fact that he just disappeared from the bike building business, were all factors in my desire to ask him personally all the vintage MTB bike-nerd questions that have...

    Early Retrotec

Finally got this one out in the woods. Perfect Fall day: It was immediately clear that this one is a keeper. Still smiling hours later: Ride report: Smooth, and very "normal" ride. Without looking down you would never know it was such a funky frame. Felt a bit more compliant...

    Early Retrotec

I posted this on MTBR, but thought it was cool enough to post for my RB friends as well.... This bike popped up on my local CL about 6 years ago...priced way out of my range, but I contacted the seller and gave it a shot but no dice. Thought I had saved his contact info, but lost him. Over the...

    All things Canadian.....

Thanks, we don't get many Rocky Mountains in my area...when this one popped up I was trying to downsize, but couldn't resist it. I've had a soft spot for RM since drooling over a '91 Stratos in my local bike shop in Arizona while I was picking up parts for my Trek 830. Steve

Fork Swap: Hoping to get it back on the trails for a comparison soon. At least with a proper steerer fit I can ride it a bit harder without worry. Steve

Very, Very, Very Early Aluminum Mountain Bike

Re: Re: Probably not likely, but anything is possible in almost twenty years. Shame you didn't snap a picture. I may never find out who built it, but it will be a fun search, and I'll keep riding it and smiling in the mean time. Steve

    1988 Jeffrey Richman

Thanks gents....Glad to see I'm not the only one who fell for this one. The ride is much better than I expected. Had to adjust my position a bit with the shorter top tube, but even though I usually ride a slightly larger frame, it was a lot of fun on the trails. Still have my fingers crossed...

    1988 Jeffrey Richman

Jeff was one of the very early builders of mountain bikes as we know them. He was selected to build one of the exhibit bikes for the "Art of the Mountain Bike" show in 1990. This frame/stem was built a couple years prior. Frame and stem as I got them: Add a few...

Very, Very, Very Early Aluminum Mountain Bike

Yes, forks definitely set it apart. I was a bit leery of how they attach, but all went well with the ride. Mafacs stopped it in style. Steve
