I can't figure out how to properly connect the cable to the levers? There's a nut that spins freely with hole in the middle and that's it. I suppose the cable goes in but it can't be properly secured, if at all.
Note the green under the black paint... But I don't think this bike ever came in green. Another interesting fact is the paint over the head tube badge.
Thoughts?
My Schwinn Homegrown has one and it's not holding air. After careful examination, I found a hairline crack on the shaft.
I can't find any spare shafts anywhere... can those be repaired somehow?
First time I heard of this brand when I was about to buy. I snagged it for $75. Somebody (previous owner) loved it! He upgraded the fork, tires, brakes and XT crank/derailleur.
Were these frames welded or bonded? I don't see any weld marks:

The handlebar stem is stuck onto the fork steerer. I've completely removed the bolt from it with the wedge inside (pushing against the steerer) and it won't move. Soaking in PB Blaster now... Thoughts on getting it loose?

I've got one just like that one and remember someone (Mathias?) mentioning here he might be interested. I contacted the seller and he said he hasn't gotten any offers so he might be opened to more down to earth bids.
My latest addition. The biggest complains about these bikes were the components - namely the LX drive-train and the cane creek rear shock.
This one has a Fox rear shock and Tektro V-brakes I know don't seem original but you gotta love the colour!
I couldn't find much info on this bike...
I've done my research on this and unfortunately I can't find much in terms of servicing this fork. I know it's a Showa fork made for Trek for a 2-3 years total, and I also know that Trek did come with a manual and instructions on how to service the fork, but I can't find any online or real...
Pre year 2000 mountain bike frame that is... and you would think it's carbon fiber viewtopic.php?f=1&t=394020, or a klein, to my surprise, it's a 1997 Gary Fisher Supercaliber 16.5in:
1540 grams!
Had it professionally powder coated, added waterslide stickers and sprayed it myself with PlastiKote Clear.
A few months later the clear coat started coming off. You can see it looks like snow flakes.
Questions:
- why did that happen? Was it because I did not light sand the powder coat layer...
Maybe it's been discussed already... but search for "inheritance" didn't bring anything.
So, I couldn't resist and picked up this 1996 Marin Bobcat Trail viewtopic.php?f=1&t=401190
Bike's history... I picked it in a somewhat wealthy suburb of Chicago, the owner a 35 yo woman. When she was...
