If you HAD to choose new V brakes for a Retrobike?

I’ve got these on the back of my Gary fisher - the blue is an almost exact March for the frame! Nice looking, very solid and the adjustment screws actually do something…not always the case, especially with ‘tired’ springs in retro sets; then you’re into bending the spring by hand!

    Mudguards....do you use them ?

On the commute folder definitely. No on the MTBs. Having said that these were cheap and worked really well when I was running a 92 Marin on dual-duty...

Oil filling on open bath (Rond) fork...

Hi, I'm going to replace seals, oil on a pair of Ron-Magura O24U forks from c.2001. There's no specific service manual for this model available on line, and only scant/inconsistent fugures for correct damping oil volume. In my searches I stumbled across this post re. servicing R-M Asgards...

Thinking of racing for the first time ever this year (Never quite got my teenage self steeled to take part) - one of the Southern XC series ...they seem to have several races/categories: https://southernxc.co.uk/categories Of which I can only see myself going in Fun/Beginner...surely most...

Early 2ks Rond O24U vs 2023 SR Suntour xcr air

Yep, they felt fairly smooth but looked very oily the short while I had them on/tried them out…. And a lot of watery grey slop and fatty deposits inside lowers when has a look inside them a while back… Enduro seals said their 30mm marzocchi seal kits fit. Might be time to get them open again!

Early 2ks Rond O24U vs 2023 SR Suntour xcr air

Yep I think about 700g going by spec sheets… Think smoothness/capability and stiffness are the bigger concerns.

Early 2ks Rond O24U vs 2023 SR Suntour xcr air

My lad is banging on about wanting upgrade forks for his Vitus nucleus 26 (new this July ffs…too much poring over mbuk…) I think I’m going to gift him my fox talas forks for Xmas to square the circle of not crushing his desires whilst not spending money on replacing the front end of a brand...

In part through the ultimate move away from intermediaries and LBS’s… “The launch of the Canyon app in 2023 marked the evolution of the direct-to-consumer model. The app features bike service information, shopping options and stories, plus a Bike Garage where riders find all compatible spare...

Hi all, Might be ressurecting my c. 2001 Monoc TC2 for my eldest, who's sniffing around road biking... It's got Xenon 9speed, with a pretty racey/high cassette on the back - can't quite recall, but probably 23 bottom-end. I do know it nearly killed me climbing abround in the cambriains when I...

Anyone else gone to the dark side? Confession: I’ve just bought a 29er..

Are there any adult 26ers with truly modern geometry out there? The boy has just acquired a Vitus Nuceleus 'youth/kids' bike which looks modern, and has 26 inch wheels for sizing, but diddy frame, obvs...
