Got to resist the urge to find another, a 10th anniversary or Telekom are top of the list, though most of the Merckx paint designs are lovely.

And test ridden, not bad at all, it was blowing a gale so not a pleasant ride but really happy with the fit and performance. Better tyres needed for summer I think.

After swapping out the wheels and chainset I think I'm done for now, it's deffo on the retro side of retromod, I plan to rebuild the wheels in the new year with polished hplus son archetype rims and stainless spokes.

I've got a not a Brian rourke I'm planning on doing a gentlemans shopper with, flat bars guards and a rack for practicality. A whole new sub genre of bike building 😊

Some did some didn't, the lugs and geometry say giro to me.

Very nice. I'd suggest that's actually a carlton giro d italia, the lugs are slightly different on the pro, still one of Carltons finest. Lovely build.

Mostly cabled up, gears tuned, I'm just a rear brake cable short of a test ride.

It's a 28 up front 25 on rear at the mo, wheels may change if they don't the tyres probably will.

Started the build. It's a retromod. So ultegra and 105 10 speed with cinelli bar and stem and shimano post. Black tape and perhaps yellow cables to pull it all together. Wheels may change but these do suit with their red and white decals.

After painting in the red which is a touch dark and wet sanding with 2000 grit paper I've hand painted on the missing lettering, needs another flat then waxing. Not perfect but from 3ft away it ain't bad. All the metal is protected at least. Itching to get it built to be honest.

Picked up what seems to be a good match for the paint. Plan is to paint in then wet sand and polish. I'll then need a mask for the merckx script so I can Airbrush the lettering. Masks are available at Lloyds.

Newly acquired, due to being badly packaged by the seller I've a few paint issues to tackle before getting it back on the road. It's a 91 frame with 96/7 paint which was briefly used by a pro team. Managed to find a matching Jersey cheap as chips.

With that number 1 on the Bb do you think that was the first or prototype? Are the other sequential or sb numbered?
