    Campag lay offs.

Spot on. I think the 99 Record titanium groupset was about the best they ever made - rock solid indexing that never needed adjustment...ever...even after a winter of mucky roads. It was all serviceable and repairable, the anodising was lush and it always cleaned up beautifully. Then they went...

Dawes One-down - Tat hauler workhorse

Schwalbe Marathon Greenguard have worked really well for me, They have wire beads but never horrible to swap a tube. Their rolling resistance is really good and they have done brilliant service on my tourer for 8 years - with only one puncture. I've even ridden them off road in Dartmoor.

    Home canti stud repair

You only need 5 threads for full strength - that's what you have with a nut. You could also run a tap down it to extend them, which is what I did. I used 8 because I could! If you are really worried, fit a brake booster to avoid a twisting force on the stud. The bike is still going strong 5...

130mm Rear Hubs. What You Using?

I've done exactly that and shortened an axle. The only trick is to leave a locknut on the axle before you shorten it - removing it then clears the thread after you have tidied the end with a file. It's best to shorten the left side. You will need to redish the wheel, as the cassette always sits...

Bent frame - sell, repair, adapt, live with?

Yep, the Romany was definitely asymmetric mid-90s. However as far as I know the Harrier wasn't. The Romany took 26" (559) wheels and was aimed at heavy touring on rough roads, the Harrier at lighter stuff. My Witcomb was re-spaced by GA Cycles in Southampton as part of a renovation...

    Mercatone Uno Bianchi

(What do I know) - my view assuming it's got all the correct Campag groupset hanging off it it that it's worth around £500 were you to break it and sell it. The remainder is the value of it being a team bike and also for the rider history. Up to you whether that seems like a good deal. How much...

Freewheel compatibility - and coolest freewheel questions

Campag and Shimano both used 5.0 mm spacing for 7s so yes, they are interoperable.

    Campag C Record Triple?

Also 'tripleiser' rings were available, a middle ring with extra long tabs which carried the inner and saved drilling the crank arms. TA certainly did them in 135mm PCD (and 130 if you like the fishing tackle stuff 🤪), not sure about 144mm.

    Single Speed Bottom Bracket Length?

Chorus cranks (and you need to say what year) typically took a 102mm bottom bracket. You won't find a shorter one.

So what do you think about this 3iAtlas comet behaving weirdly in our Solar System?

Interestingly it's only recently that scientists have been able to demonstrate that bubbles rising in ponds can charge up and produce micro-sparks, leading to ignition of marsh gas. This phenomenon has been widely reported for centuries as Will O' the Wisps, but at last has been fully explained.
