I've now got a little backstory on the gitane The owner bought this bike new in paris around 45 years ago, then fell in love with a welshman from the valleys.😍 The bike has lived there until she was unable to ride it due to age... no mention of the sh1t brakes and limited gear range😉

    XT BR-M775 - serviceable?

You could get new calipers from 50, and probably same again to get them set up and bled, so a full repair would be £100. If they were our stock id fit new calipers - we've probably got some spare flatmounts, and there are quite a few bikes flatbar/,flatmounts but little stock to suit.

    Single Speed Bottom Bracket Length?

If you want to mount the sprocket on the outside of the chainset you'll want a short bb axle, but the halo sprocket gives plenty of chainline adjustment, so if you have a 111 to hand, try it, it might work.

    XT BR-M775 - serviceable?

If you dismantle the caliper you can try to clean up the pistons then try for a match for the seals. Customers of ours claim to have succeeded, but we wouldn't try because of the time taken and the inability to offer a guarantee on the work. The trouble is that the pistons and bores may well...

What suitable tyres on mavic monthlery pro rims

The cheap Vittoria tubs look the part. Use double sided tub tape. Fit the tape to the rim, peel back a couple of inches of the backing tape from the outer surface, at the valve. Leave it sticking to one side a little. Lightly inflate the tyre, fit valve, roll tyre onto the rim. Centralise...

    1996 Kona Hahanna

Looks nice in that colour! You can make a good trueing stand out of a steel mtb rear triangle, use canti bosses to mount the vert and horizontal gauge. Looks like the rear wheel rim is worn through by the brake though😪

The small centre but spread suburbs make cycling ideal for most, But also the varied geology is great - you've got the cotswolds, the mendips, Somerset levels, the Severn and the Avon valley, and South Wales all within an hours ride. In this area, great domestic, industrial, religious and...
