    HG70 vs HG90 cassettes

Having had both HG70 & HG90 cassettes recently, I can confidently say they are both assembled with the same kind of hex bolts. The top pic looks like it may be some kind of other cassette, or may have had the bolt heads sheared off somehow (maybe some extreme chainsuck into the spokes)...

1991 Karakoram in the famous inferno paint, picked up off Craigslist for $40. Dream bike in high school (couldn't afford the $600 MSRP at the time), so couldn't resist. Was someone's college bike & upon restoring it, found it to be by far the mintiest find i've come across. Way too small for...

    Titus Motolite Exogrid 2008

Definitely - that white fork sticks out like a sore thumb. And by the way, the more anodized components, the better - compliments the ti frame perfectly.

    Titus Motolite Exogrid 2008

A 100mm fork matching the 100mm setting in the back should make for a nice, snappy efficient ride. When I had mine, I had the rear set to the other setting (127mm) with a 120mm fork & it was perfect for a long-travel trail bike. BB was pretty high, though (14 inches, if I remember correctly).

    Titus Motolite Exogrid 2008

Very nice! I owned a 2007 Motolite (aluminum frame) as my main ride for 15 years, and it was by far the best bike i've owned. Would still have it today, but had to downsize due to traveling. Anyway, you're right - they were super high-end & considered exotic for the time. I have the original...

    1991 Trek 970 - Lovely resto starts here…

Just need to track down some pink paint & a needle-tip brush, and that'll fix that decal nick right up. I've used Testors model paint with great success.

m739 vs m951 shifters: is there one that genuinely performs better?

I would definitely go for the M950, if possible. I've had both (the combined shift/levers of both M950 XTR & M739 XT) & the feel is quite different - the 950 thumb paddle is larger & more comfortable, and the finger paddle makes a much more satisfying "click" when you shift. Also, I believe...

    Show us your Diamond Backs!!!

Very nice find so close by, but it's actually a 1991 model. Built one up for my wife years ago & turned out pretty mint. If you cannot source new decals, Testors model paint works wonders for touch ups - did that for my decals & turned out great, especially finding neon pink to re-do the pink...

    91 DB Apex

Beautiful find! Although, I can't figure out why the Avenir logo is upside down on the seatpost - usually it's running the opposite direction.

    1991 Team Marin NOS

Beautiful neon there, I love it. You have some original Ritchey Megabites there, before the Z-Max came out (center tread pattern is different) - they were the OEM tires on my first bike, a 1991 Miyata Elevation 400'. Also agree with above - that ugly Made in Taiwan decal has got to go...

    GT Karakoram elite..91 ....

Beautiful. I picked up a '91 Karakoram with the red inferno paint job a few years ago for $40 off Craigslist. Dream bike in high school I couldn't afford, so really wanted one, if even just to restore. Picked it up, few sizes too small, & didn't need another bike. But, under plenty of dirt &...

1991 Trek 8900 - Florescent resto happiness (almost NOS)

Beautiful build! Little detail to take it over-the-top, would be replacing the plastic cable ferrules with metal ones to complete the retro look :)

Dream bike achieved - red inferno 1991 GT Karakoram

Amazing Craigslist find of a lifetime - picked this beauty up today for $45 - totally stock (aside from the saddle) 1991 GT Karakoram in the awesome red inferno paint scheme. Probably only ridden a few times, as the original Megabite tires still have the manufacturer nubs, not a scratch on the...

    1991 Diamondback Axis

Re: Very nice - love Diamondbacks, especially the 1991 lineup. I have the Axis Team, Apex, & Ascent EX - would love to get my mitts on the neon orange Axis from that year :)

1992 Diamond Back Response- FINISHED (Pix on Page 4)

Re: 1992 Diamond Back Response The seatpost size should be 26.8 - I have a 1991 Apex & Ascent, and they both have the True Temper AVR tubing, have a 28.6 clamp band, and both take the 26.8 seatpost.

Looking for Info on Dia-Compe XE01 Cantilever brakes

Re: I have the 1992 catalog in front of me right now - says the Response comes with Dia Compe XCM brakes with Dia Compe XCE brake levers. Hope this helps :)

Diamondback Apex 1992 / too big for me? Too pricey?

Re: That looks like it may be 20" - here's a pic of my 20" '92 Axis: I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam & it fits perfect. 20" seattube (center-to-top), 32" standover, 23.5" top tube, and a few inches of standover clearance. As for the price, it's pretty close to a steal, especially for the...

Shim or not to shim: 26.8 to 27.2?

Re: Shims work just fine. You can search online for shims to work for your frame/fork. I have a 30.0 seattube, but wanted to use a 27.2 XT seatpost (the biggest size they make), so I found a Cane Creek 30.0 to 27.2 shim, and it works just great. Depending on what size seatpost/frame you...
