The lunchtime rides are great, generally about 30/35mins for a blast of about 6/7 miles at the moment, really fun to slot in around work. Have gone up to 50min rides at times too. Chip shop sounds really really nice right now :)

My gear shifters are old Shimano bar mounted thumb levers. The right (rear) is a little stiff, deraileur seems fine. At 25 years old, wondering if they need a lubricate as its not something Ive lubed before. As the right is indexed (sti I think w=is on it but not what modern sti seems to mean?)...

It does seem to be the side knobs creating the problem. So time with Mr Stanley could be a solution, though I do like the side knobs so would probably preffer to drop to the 1.90s if I can. Interesting what you said about knobs being extra. Thanks for the info.

So I got the wrong tyres for my bike refurbishment. Damn Existing tyres are 26x1.90 and the original magazine articles on my 1989 bike say there is plenty of clearance around the edges for fatter wider tyres, so I thought 2.10 would be fine and there was plenty of clearance around forks, brakes...

lol funny because it isnt a light bike :)
