Plenty of Yeti FROs and other high end premium thin walled steel frames of this era ‘can have’ rust issues, its nothing unique to steel FATs no drain hole accepted. I always turned my 89 steel FAT upside down and dried the seat tube out over night in a warm room and used frame saver = zero rust issues. I rode it countless times through mud, streams, touring in the Irish rain etc I have owned 6 Yos and only one had rust issues as the previous London DJ owner didn't look after it properly. I would highly recommend investing in a coiled up inspection camera with a light to check inside any frame before purchase. They are around £20-30 using you own smart phone.

Good tip! I just wasn't tuned into this being a larger problem with Fat Chance than I initially thought. Though, I have been out of the biking culture for a few years and the general problem area of 'seat tube - water bad' fell off my radar. I do have an oscilloscope too.
