Looks like a nice bike under all the dust!
I’ve had this quite a while now & it’s just been covered up at the back of the workshop.
I had free’d up the seatpost but it seems jammed again so that’ll be my first job!

That's ace! You rarely see the paint that bright, it's normally washed out. Great find.

It's a shame they only made them in stupid sizes.

I've been hard at it with the Mr Sheen tonight & seem to be making progress. Saddle swapped out for a re-issue flyte for the time being as there was no gel in the Turbo Vetta gel . Front wheel appears fair rumbly, does anyone know if these run a sealed bearing? (XC pro) as I've limited experience with Suntour, although I haven't had it apart yet it looks really similar the the peregrine super pro set up I had on my Haro years ago. Tyres are toast so it'll be a Smoke / Dart combo as I have a pair.
Everything else appears to be in pretty solid serviceable condition, there are a few rust spots to take care of on the reflector brackets etc & I need to see if I have a matching reflector for the front wheel (I'm pretty sure I have one ) I'll be leaving the small scratches & chips as I don't think attending to them will make an improvement.

Shame about the tyres - Michelin Hi-Lite Hot - personal favourite from bitd...probably not quite as good as I remember them to be

Seem to remember this era of Raleigh coming with Panaracer Timbuc2. Might be imagining it though XC-Pro hubs had cartridge bearings with only a seal on 1 side for the Grease Gaurd system to work. Check for a grease port on the hub and if you have one inject some grease into it. Might cure that rumbling

Really nice that , although I struggle with the apostrophe in lieu of the g in Lightning
