So, finished for now.....

funny thing is that in the steel the colours are more subdued and the black is the dominant colour yet in the photos the colours really do stand out..... But I guess that was the idea.9




Deore II front and rear derailleurs, perfect for this build.




I think I'll have to polish up those dropouts a bit more now!

Tyres are no name Innova, front is a dart copy, I was tempted with some black ritchey but I prefer the amber wall colour




4 finger levers, the ones without the pneumatic return capsule, and I opted for basic black cabling this time. Headset is a campagnolo unit, tidy and does the job




Saddle for now is a yellow hinnault turbo, right era.... A bit much? maybe swap it out eventually to a black rolls, XT seat skewer that will do until I get a pinch bolt unit, and I went with a Tioga chromed seatpost, I was lucky to find this and I think it works well with the chromes dropouts.

As a side note. Did you recently buy that Seatpost on eBay? I've been searching for one for years.

I did, rarely seen in chrome but I knew they existed in someone's stash, bought initially for the orbit with the rest of the chrome Tioga kit.

Funnily enough I want one for an Orbit with chrome Tioga parts. Great minds...

Brilliant looking bike. The obfuscated decals are a favourite. Black Rolls? ... Ehm, yes.

Love it! Another great restoration. Love choices you have made and custom spraying some parts too. I cannot remember Deore ll derailleurs having black parallelograms? Or did they produce these to go with the black chainset and cantilevers?

I gave these a little bit of black a few years ago, lots of masking off and a satin black spray can.... Just to be different...... And fool some folks

Ha! But there are things we miss/forget, hence me thinking they might have formed part of a limited edition black groupset...

Don't worry, back in the early 90s I was painting my own derailleur bodies/parallelograms with blue Tamiya paint so they matched the blue logos on my frame.

I loved customising stuff, just because I could. Now we're all obsessed with building catalogue spec builds which was something we were desperate to change as soon as we got a new bike... it's a funny old world...

You spoke so here it is .... With a black rolls saddle and the pinch bolt instead of the Q/R.

Rollstastic! I see you've also swapped the seat QR with a binder bolt too... always fettling!
