Today's Ride

IMG_6622.webp Well it started off very pleasantly but then half way into my ride I realise....

It's ANT DAY!!!! billions of them... I was literally covered in them.

but...

another hobby of mine is occasionally embarrassing my teenage children.

Happy days as I pick up my youngest from football practice, not only riding a weird old bike, but totally covered in ants.... #win!

Sadly my obsession with cycling automatically discounts it as a possible hobby or pursuit for my stepsons. Whenever I try to convince them to go riding with me, they get this furtive look that says 'uncool', 'old-guy stuff', and yes, 'embarrassing'.

I'd feel bad about it but then in my estimation, they're losing out and I get to keep all the funky gear for my own selfish uses -- no pesky sharing to bother with.

I have a mixed bag. My eldest loves his bike, but tends to use it as a commuter - so doesn't see the value in 'leisure rides' - my other two just have bikes that are taking up valuable retrobike space !! So I too am usually on my own, which suits me just fine

My oldest stole my 24" bmx and rides it to the mall. it's getting covered in scratches and yellow paint scrapings, which hurts the inner bike nerd. And I don't even want to think about where he's leaving it (AND ARE YOU USING THAT LOCK PROPERLY?!) However, I am glad he's riding it because bikes. Bonus is I don't have to chauffeur him all about town.
