Fillet brazed off road adventure bike of unknown origin.

I nearly pulled the trigger on this too once postage was offered, that Said I felt it was still overpriced without any Providence .... Even though it was still a pretty looking frame and a good size.

Glad it went to someone in the fold.

I ended up going for this one last week, as you can see it has similar town tube mounts and the owner claims it as Lee cooper built.

I sense another great resto will be on it's way in the not too distant future!

Like others I was super close to buying this at one point, before I decided to concentrate on my pioneer. So many similarities to my pioneer in fact. Are the forks fillet brazed? Mine are and also share the mid-way rack braze ons. Both front and rear dropouts are the same. Mine also has the third set of bottle cage mounts under the down tube. Lastly the cut of the reinforcement seat cluster sleeve is similar. Lovely bike whatever it is. image.webp

Framebuilders bits and pieces sit in little drawers in a space that's often a little chaotic.
In my own experience, if I find some bosses, on they go.
My recollection of Overburys (the shop) is that it was even less organised than mine.

Overburys clearly had square bosses at some point, but you'd usually buy a quantity at a time.

If the supplier only had square, on they go.
If you can only find square in the drawers, on they go.

The plot thickens.

This morning I received a reply from Lee Cooper...

''I am not sure if this is one of ours. But if it isn't it would be one of Jim Macilwaine's, who used to own Bromwich Cycles.''

He also suggests I check for a frame number, which of course I'll do as soon as it arrives.
This is promising as he seems quite certain that it's more than likely one or the other, a Cooper or a Macilwaine.

It remains to be seen whether the frame number (if there is one) sheds any more light on it.

My only thoughts there is that it doesn't have the signature rear brake cable stop that were a Bromwich standard.
