Huf! .. it was a shite ride for me today, it started off well with a slice of leftover cherry pie and custard.
Rode up through the Porter Valley, the cows came down to the river for a drink..
..then started mooing and headbutting each ether in their impatience .. ladys, ladys !
I was only doing a short loop through Burbage so i only took basic provisions
It was windy as hell today in the Peaks, not many folks out so i was f'kin nailing it.. approaching a loose rocky section in the center of the trail, i tried to ride up the bermed edges towards the outside of the trail to avoid the rocks but my tyre lost traction and slid down the berm which threw me off the bike.. Ouch!
I've scrapped my frame, my rear derailleur, my knee.. somehow my phone in my pocket managed to survive..
The worse was yet to come when i realised i had a front tyre puncture.. i always register the tyre branding centrally to the valve but the impact and loss of air was such that it's dragged the tyre around the rim.. ut-oh.. this doesn't look good.
..a friendly caterpillar came over to lend a hand.. well more of a sucker really
.. the innertube was toast with a series of 6mm slits in a line? i didn't have enough patches so i had to push home from Fox House.. back up through Burbage.. then the section from Burbage all the way to Ringinglow village without any footpath was just f'kin hideous.. culvert on one side.. walking for miles through waist high mother-die and nettles.. cars zooming past within inches.. all the time pushing my bike and trying to elevate the front wheel... it took me hours!
I got back to civilisation, looking over to the old abandoned hospital.. the roof caught fire yesterday so we had fire engines zooming past all night.
..i've ridden past this place 100s of times
..so i stopped to look at the plaque
..nearly home
Horse Symmery .. i think it was a track The Doors second album
.. y'know what i need? .. Beer!
