Raleigh: The Great British Bicycle Company

Cast back to March 2016 when James Cracknell set a distance of 35.1 k in 60 minutes on 1970s Raleigh Chopper .
The event took place at Lee valley velodrome . In aid of comic relief .

I brought this home yesterday evening. Free to a good home . I will replace the saddle, bar tape and one tyre . After that donating to local bike charity . 20250514_100321.webp

That's nice that, I'm about to rescue a Reynolds 501 Raleigh Panasonic from a certain trip to the dump. Is it just me or did ask the Raleigh's from this era suffer from a particularly shitty paint finish?

Yep it was bad . Sometime during the late 80s or 90s they invested in a new paint shop.
Sadly it did little to change the inevitable.
They really missed a beat with the M tracs mtb range . The Raleigh HB was just not cool enough for some folk .
The bikes were great IMHO. Mine rode really well .
