Today's Ride

Great weather for a ride today. Just over 30 miles of cross country. Couple of bridleway closed without diversions for the construction of the A428/black cat improvement was annoying to say the least. Ended up blagging it and riding across the in progress construction, worked well the first time, got escorted off the second!

Got dropped on a short section of road by I suspect a dentist on their lunch break - £10k Canyon road bike, check, matching outfit to bike colour, check, touring car style lighting on the back, check, no hello, check.

Anyway…

Little hoarse so stopped for a drink…

Most of our tracks were like this and across fields, some of my favourite sort of riding.

I have just got back from a four day ride along the Basingstoke canal and down the Wey navigation to Godalming where I camped in a friend's garden, they were away so no inside lodging that day. I then rode to Ashurst in the New Forest via Winchester camping in there for a couple of nights and exploring the local area before heading down to Christchurch and along the south coast to Wareham where I caught the train home.

King John's castle Greywell.

The end of the canal and almost the start of the navigation.

Friend's house which is almost a castle itself.

And an unexpected ruin in Christchurch.

Weather was just too good to pass up..

Traveling light so strapped a rollmat to my bike.. using one SimWorks strap and one vintage 1970s Snakebelt for a Mork & Mindy kinda vibe..

Not great for the knees but i was only going a couple of miles up the road..

Crikey -- that's a chilly night out!

Puts my effort today to shame -- it was dry and sunny and I hadn't ridden for a week for various reasons, so got out on the Jake and did the same ride as last Sunday, with an added hill to try to make up for the week's shortfall. It was cold in the shade but the direct sun was warm -- but didn't take any pix as it was the same route as before and the iPhone touch screen doesn't work well with gloves. Boring eh?

So 38 km, 1,184 ft climbing. Took it a bit easy in the hopes of doing it again tomorrow.

I went to the Vistula out of boredom to see what was going on at the kayak dock.

on the way I bought a set of Ritchey wheels at the antique market, used but still in good condition
I also saw a beautiful old Sony radio, I didn't buy it,
And there are a lot of people on the market square in Krakow because today is May 3rd.

Celebration of the adoption of the Constitution of May 3 in 1791year, 232nd anniversary
