Specialized M2 Info Thread/Serial Registry

Hello Nzozone, your 1991 works Steel is beautiful. The original components however were Suntour XC Pro.
I had one, if you need I can send you the photos.
Cheers
Nope, my black one above is an alloy 91 M2 S works ,it was spec'd with all DX components 😁

The 92 Red/yellow decal S works M2 Team edition was spec'd with suntour xc pro components

I didn't know there was a black M2 Works from 1991. I had a Works Steel with Suntour XC Pro components.

A bit of info on head tubes. It's not the case that until 94 all were 1". I've had a few M2 Teams, all built 90,91,92 and the head tubes varied. My assumption given experience is that if the frames were supplied with an FS fork they had 1-1/8" head tube, and if they were supplied with rigid DD fork they had a 1" head tube. I've been caught out a couple of times assuming I had something to fit a frame and then finding it to be be different head tube size. All my Teams have been and are original so that's where my assumption stems from. Cheers!
I am aware, I don't think that's what I posted. I already knew this. The 1994 M2 rigid was last with a 1" AFAIK

The 1991 base model M2 (pink/yellow, not to be confused with the matte pink/yellow 1992 S-Works Pro) had full DX. The elusive 1991 Team (champagne) had full XC Pro, as did the first Teams. These were the only three colors for 1991.
The 1992 base S-Works (black/red) had full XT standard iirc, so assuming that's what you had, it was probably BTO with DX.

I bought it just yesterday, so it's in its early stages :D.
this post is very interesting, I think unique in the world. Yesterday evening, as soon as I got the bike, I started looking at it. My bike, I don't think it's the first series of 500, because of the welded cable guides.
I have a Suntour XC Pro group and I would like to mount it. The fork will be a bad nightmare. Currently it mounts an anonymous RST.
The previous owner told me that originally, the bike mounted a rigid fork
Yep, this appears to be a 1992 Team. Nice score!
