Great looking bike at the time - Nico Vouilloz I think was riding one, bad news is they were all snapping like yours at the seat tube ( my friend Patric Maes broke one while training with me at Grundig 1992 WC in La Bourboule and headed back home )
Lockdown project number 5.... After spending time last year reopening the "Geoff Ringle's YETI ARC" history books and rebuilding a bike with the parts, "refurbishing" an 2004 Santa Cruz Blur, building a 1991 Yo Eddy and pimping up my old Commencal flame, needed another project to keep sanity...
So it all started a long time ago with some Mountain Bike Action magazines... the ones with good old adverts from US retailers showing prices and weight for main parts as "listing" at the end of the magazine... Merlin, Yeti, Klein and... Fat Chance were the dream bike, with the latter the least...
Yes in order to avoid people re welding frames without taking them back they requested us to cut the entire frame 5 cm before head tube and send them the front. Unexpectedly they re used my original frame plate and # on the 2001 coloured replacement frame

The cranks were on mine in 2000 ( well in silver ... ) so guess it makes it period perfect ? :) And the blue matching the sid so had to go for them
Hard to differentiate 20 years later between vintages as they started that model « mid 90s » but they were still selling...
