    Tektro R359, 57 or 59 drop?

Thanks. I'd tend to agree. I'm now looking for alternatives, but otherwise I'll get myself a pair of R359s

    Tektro R359, 57 or 59 drop?

Hello, My Boardman uses Tektro R315 calipers, which at the front are just a tad too short to comfortably reach the rim. The pads make contact at the very top of the rim, often spilling towards the tire as they wear out. 1-2mm longer reach would fix the problem. I was thinking to replace them...

RX100 shifters woes - any advice?

Really? I never had it happen. But I never stopped using the bike for more than a couple of weeks.

RX100 shifters woes - any advice?

I have and I haven't They would work but as you say, they are horrible. There is no two ways about it. And they have the thumb lever for downshifting... I am waiting to see if the PO is willing to send a refund. If so, I'll get the st-a410 shifters. If not...I'll convert it to downtube shifters.

Orbit Harrier - vertical dropouts but 126mm rear spacing?

    Thanks. I didn't know.

Orbit Harrier - vertical dropouts but 126mm rear spacing?

Hello, I recently purchased a lovely (and very cheap) Orbit Harrier. It's the version with symmetrical rear triangle and caliper brakes. So more of an audax than touring. Anyhow, it came with Shimano STX hubs and a 7 speed cassette. I assumed, when bidding, that it had a 130mm rear spacing. In...

RX100 shifters woes - any advice?

Sadly, cleaning the mechanism didn't solve anything. In fact, I think that's exactly what the previous owner did as it was indeed really clean inside. Looks like the "tooth" the pawl engages with has worn out over time and it just doesn't works any more.

RX100 shifters woes - any advice?

Ah! Now I get it. Thanks for explaining. Not patronising at all. I simply had not considered the idea of discarding a sprocket! In my head I was fitting a 8-speed cassette and simply not use one of the sprockets. Do you reckon the lockring will work without the smallest sprocket in place?

RX100 shifters woes - any advice?

Oh for sure I'll try. Just bracing myself for the worst case scenario....

RX100 shifters woes - any advice?

Thanks. The previous owner must have tried that because the inside of the shifter (yes, it's an integrated brake/shifter lever) is squeaky clean. With the inside mechanisms exposed (while braking) I can see that the pawl doesn't engage with the ratchet mechanism. To me, looks like the retention...

RX100 shifters woes - any advice?

Wait, maybe I am confused. I thought a spacer is needed when fitting a 7-speed cassette onto a 8-speed hub I have a 7-speed hub, onto which to fit (if possible) a 8- speed cassette

RX100 shifters woes - any advice?

    1. Are you sure? I have never handled a 7 speed cassette, but I thought a 4.5mm spacer was needed to fit one on a 8- speed hub, which suggests a 8-speed cassette won't fit on a 7-speed hub 2. yes, rear derailleur would be the only salvageable part from the lot if I decide to upgrade to more...
