RX100 Rear derailleur (RD-A550) OK condition. It works but the cable tension screw is stuck. Bit of rust here and there, but nothing major. £10

Twisting and reducing the outwards travel (via screw) seems to have solved the problem. It's still a bit strange, there is barely 2mm clearance between the crank and the cage now, which is considerably less than any other crank-derailleur combo I ever saw, but it seems to work, so I'm happy :)

It's OK. Outer ring is about 45mm from the centre line.

hehe, sadly, I think that if I was to replace it, I'd go modern. This is supposed to become my everyday bike, and I find the modern Shimano shifters to be so much more comfortable than anything else.

The cage IS high, yes. I had to place the deraillaur much higher than I would have wanted to because at a "normal" height, the bump pf the inner plate of the cage was just squishing the chain onto the chainring but not achieving a shift.

The chainline is good...for a double. The problem might be that I am trying to use a triple derailleur as a double. The irony is that I switched to double because the triple crankset was not working well haha

Hello, My Boardman uses Tektro R315 calipers, which at the front are just a tad too short to comfortably reach the rim. The pads make contact at the very top of the rim, often spilling towards the tire as they wear out. 1-2mm longer reach would fix the problem. I was thinking to replace them...

Really? I never had it happen. But I never stopped using the bike for more than a couple of weeks.

I have and I haven't They would work but as you say, they are horrible. There is no two ways about it. And they have the thumb lever for downshifting... I am waiting to see if the PO is willing to send a refund. If so, I'll get the st-a410 shifters. If not...I'll convert it to downtube shifters.
