Looks great with the natural patina. It's a real pity that Ground Control tyres that it would have come with are impossible to get hold of cheaply now.
Please though, remove the plastic dork disk!

As a related aside, what's the difference between Ritchey Logic Prestige and Tange Prestige? I would guess nothing, and it's only some sort of licensing agreement between the two manufacturers, but interested to know otherwise.
To be honest not sure about the 4 but the K referred to 'kevlar'. The tyre had a kevlar belt i.e. casing between the inner casing and the rubber tread to prevent thorns and sharp things penetrating through to the inner tube. I can't vouch for their effectiveness against nails though!

When was the last time you saw a pair of these beauties?? Kevlar belted Ground Controls which were quite a rare tyre even at the time. It's a lot of cash but in the context of things fair enough I guess.
Personally, I used a pair of these when I rode the junior race at the 1990 Grundig XC at...
I always know such geekery is embraced on this site. I know feck all about any mountain bike stuff after 1999, but ask me about the differences between an M732 and an M735 XT derailleur and I'll have an opinion!
The only reason I really paid attention is I've become a bit obsessed with Specialized rims in my current Stumpy build and noticed they were the lesser seen GX23 (grey) as opposed to the BX23 (black)!
Surely if the original sale was via ebay, and the current sale is also on ebay then it's obvious if it's the same person? If not then as the others say might be worth checking to see if it's not been stolen.
I assume that you're interested as you'd be looking to flip it?
Thanks for all your help. I've since discovered that there are plenty of alternative tools out there that do the job. I wonder why Shimano would discontinue on that basis? Anyway here's one example on eBay...
