I bought this not so long ago. ‘79 Tange forks and original seat post clamp. Here’s a pic from the eBay listing. I’m slowly stripping the paint off and will bring that nickel back the best I can. I polished a little section and it looks loads better. Nice little winter project for me.
This is how most people like to find them. The Ultra Burner would have the most interest, being a more popular model and with the better spec. You will probably see more money just by moving them on with a good mark up.
What do you want for the Ultra Burner? 😍
1974 or 75 Gitane for collection only in Romford, Essex.
I think it’s a Tour de l'Avenir model. 58cm seat tube and 57cm top tube with honeycomb dropouts. 531 tubing, probably only the main 3. Scars and rust, original paint and graphics. The chrome on the forks isn’t great but would clean up a...
I took the Panasonic out for a 35 ish mile ride earlier today. She rode like an absolute dream and I’m so pleased I took the gamble on this bike. I got a puncture about 7 miles from home, it didn’t spoil a very pleasant ride though. I took a photo during the pit stop. Sorry about the quality, I...
I agree that it’s worthy. It has given me some grief though. As well as the tweaked dropout, I had to source a replacement rear derailleur, the tab on the jockey wheel plate that locks on the stop on the body and maintains the spring tension snapped on me. The replacement didn’t have a cable...
Thanks Ibbz, just following your lead. Hope you’re well. I’m now thinking I should have gone down the TA route, these Nervar are killing me 🤣 they are supposed to have a JIS taper but only pull in on the spindle taper halfway, not enough for me. I can only get a few turns on each nut. I tried...
The paint has been stripped off and then everything was given a gentle hand polish. It looks loads better now.
I discovered the spindle is not Tange as I thought, so I now need to find a JIS tapered replacement. It never ends 🤣
