  • I have several road GT's and I am struggling with changes in geometry over the years. I also have a 95 shaklee team bike but it was repainted so I can't tell what tubing it is made out of. The '95 catalog says the Edge is made out of True Temper GTX Ultra III, is that what they made the Shaklee team bikes out of as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Depends how early in 95 it was made. Does it have a low serial number? May have been Excell Podium or Excell Superlight. Which was the best steel tubing on the planet at the time. Those greedy bastards that ran the Airbus consortium offered the family that owned Excell so much money they couldn't turn them down so they started making tubes for Airbus and ceased bicycle tube production.

95 GT Road Catalog says the Edge steel frames were made out of Excell but I know the Excell tubing didn't last the year.
By the way the 94-95 Shaklee Jersey has both GT Bicycles and Reynolds sponsor logos.
Mike feel free to p.m. me I worked for them...I've got like 8 steel Edges plus a couple NOS frames.

Correction...The 95 GT Road Bike Catalog says the Edge was made out of Excell Superlite Double Butted tubing...it was at the start of the 95 year until the Excell pipeline stopped.
