Dekerf Team SL build and Q’s

Oops, I meant to say the seatstay bridge!

Dekerf Team SL build and Q’s

Drool-worthy! What's the bolt for in the underside of the chainstay bridge? Fender?

    eBay: Up the Swanee?

I have almost completely stopped buying from US sellers on Ebay. Maybe decreasing interest in US goods is affecting the wider market (or US buyers are also less interested in international buying)?

    Mystery and Unidentified Parts

Wow - great find! It certainly looks like that Poulidor from the images popping up on Google. Thanks!

    Klein Mantra 1997

Sweet looking bike! I've always liked the Mantras, despite (or because of?) their reputation for being strange. You may want to ask a regular shock service shop to have a look at the Alps 5R. Some shocks can be serviced with standard O-rings and something that old is likely to be fairly simple...

    Mystery and Unidentified Parts

Can anyone ID this frame? JMLab is an audio company, so I'm assuming it was just stickered for advertising. It's listed locally on FB marketplace for a song and looks interesting... odd frame by Rented Mule, on Flickr

    Retro Triathlon Bikes ??????????????????????????????????????

I guess my only roadie qualifies as a retro triathlon bike. It's a 2000 (ish) S-Works M4 that I picked up for $300 CAD about 7 years ago. Spinergy's, CK headset, Ultegra Flight Deck (still working!), Thomson stem - about 19 pounds. I've since put a shorter riser stem and more subdued bar tape on...

Suggestions to stop brake cable ping (not zip ties)

I'd use something like a stick-on clear cable holder: https://www.walmart.com/ip/3M-Command-17302CLR-Small-Cord-Clips-Clear-Wire-Clips-Hooks-Damage-Free-Strong-Hold-8-Clips-12-Strips-Per-Pack-2-Pack/383429910?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=1009

Kona Scab (or why I keep ended up with more bikes though I am trying to downsize)

al-onestare's stable of bikes suggests significant Kona expertise, so I trust the huck bike assessment!

Kona Scab (or why I keep ended up with more bikes though I am trying to downsize)

Great color too! I built a Scab about 25 years ago as my winter bike, just pieced together from whatever bits I had laying around. I always loved the look of it, but man was it a punishing frame to ride! They seem to be relatively rare; I've been looking for one for years and almost never see...

    GT LTS 1 1997

I didn't think I was going to dig the green tires, but they pair well with the green in the decals of the Judy. There's a lot of polished surface area so a black post may help draw attention to the shape of the frame and pick up on the black of the rear derailleur.

I don't know why I didn't see replies to this thread until 8+ months later - sorry! I think it's Reynolds 853 steel, not Ti. I had finished the build enough to ride it and then decided I needed a different crankset so it's in pieces again. The fork is a rebuilt Z1 BAM with Dr. Zocchi's...

Removing a goosed fork air cap

My default for rounded fasteners is to use a rotary tool to cut a slot in the head so I can use a screwdriver to turn it. As clubby mentioned though, top caps may be too tight for that sort of thing.

    Show us yer FSR's

I can't remember if I've posted in this thread already - I had a '98 extreme with the Judy XL for years and it's what got me into the DH/FR scene. I don't recall ever seeing one of the Mountain Speed link kits before, but I must have known about them back in the day. I did have the BETD long...

    Seatstay bridge rusty

The correct way to fix it is probably to cut out the rust and weld in new metal, but that seems like a lot of fussy work for your stated goals. If you're ok with filling the hole, you could use something like JB Weld and then sand it smooth once hard. You could also slide a strip of steel into...
