    Raleigh Dyna-Tech Decade?

The Mk2 has a lot more engineering done by Raleigh to improve it. I've only ever seen a couple of Mk1 versions of the fork. It's difficult enough to find a Mk 2! If I'd got it I would have gone Pace forks as that is what the team ran on the suspension version of the works bikes. But the...

    Raleigh Dyna-Tech Decade?

That is quick work. Will get the serial number off of mine later this week, currently away with work. It does look in reasonable condition. Will try and find the photos of the german one to see how that compares to yours. Mine matches the bike in test ride magazine article but don't know if...

    Raleigh Dyna-Tech Decade?

Well done, I saw it about an hour after it had gone. Absolute bargain. I am about 15 mins away from where it was so assume your mum isn't far away. If you want when you pick it up you could pop in to mine and we can put the two side by side. This is the third Decade I've come across, there...

    U.S.E Sub fork

Might be worth looking to see if you could get it built up with weld and then redrilled & refaced. And/or you could add a bracing piece.

What to do in the event of a total blackout: a Revolution!

The cast idea was revisted by Empire Cycles in more recent times, not sure if they are still available cast. There are a few that were even 3d metal printed by Renishaw. My brother had one of the standard cast ones and did remark it had a dead feel. Superb job on the Kirk, nice to see one...

Tariffs and the upcoming trade war's effect on retro bike market

Whenever money gets tight hobbies and other optional expenditure tend to be the first thing that is cut/sold. But if interest rates go towards zero you tend to have people invest money in hobbies as you might as well have an item (car/bike/etc...) not earning money as you are to have money in...

Advise on opening this Shimano Thumb Shifter to replace cable

As said above the cable will push out. The easy way to do it is: Disconnect cable from the derailleur Push shifter the whole way out - away from the bar Push it back a bit and the end of the cable should pop out If not pull the outer away from the shifter and then push the inner cable in to...

    Dyna-Tech Sentinal £10

I think that's a warranty replacement. The rear stays are the ones they used on the titanium dynatech's not the earlier steel ones. I have seen one before where it had the earlier colour scheme but was a later frame. Either way it is a bargain.

Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

As it is a flat part (when laid on it's side) and not too thick I would go for getting it laser or waterjet cut. Then should be an easy job to drill it for the countersinking and through for the two mounting holes.

1994 original San Andreas - Prostop & Suspenders

That is very nice. I've just bought a San Andreas, effectively frame and forks and needing cleaning etc... That was £500. But yours looks in very good condition and has the very desirable brakes and forks. I'd think around the £1500 or maybe more. If I hadn't just bought a house I'd happily...

    Raleigh ex team dynatech

Wow! Seeing one ex-team bike in good condition is unusual let alone two. Lovely to see them having survived and looking very original. There is a dynatech group on facebook and there is going to be a first meet up near Nottingham in a couple of weeks time if that is of interest to you. Out...

    Check out my crack!

Definitely not shipping damage - two reasons, 1 I'm not sure that is possible by shipping!, 2 No impact or damage mark at either end of the crack. Agree with you that it is damage due to overtightening. Either not checked well enough or trying to pull a fast one.

Marinovative Cheap Trick brakes with canti levers?

You can run V brakes with standard levers so the same will go for the Marinovative. I never got on with V brakes using V brake levers so have only ever run them with cantilever brake levers. But you do need to run them closer to the rims and therefore your wheels need to be true.

Cannot seem to sell my late model manitou ht

Welded ones can sell for reasonable money. But agree on the paint finish and more importantly to me is that it is missing a front derailleur and a seatpost. Not easy or cheap to get those parts for a Manitou HT. I would be inclined to put it on ebay with the photos of when it was red as well...
