With a weld on a steerer to ensure a proper join NDT Dye Penetrant or MPI would be advisable for safety’s sake as if this suddenly gives way on a downhill for instance it could be catastrophic for the rider…..

It was an experiment you could change down but not back up. To change up I’d need a triple set up so the middle ring would be around a 54T. The with the 42 I could only use the lowest 3 cogs as Had the moved out for better alignment in low gears so a 10speed cassette became a 6speed.
