When I came to re-use my 40 year old racing wheels I decided the original Clements were past it, despite the fact they still held air. I replaced them with a set of Vittorias as they look the part and weren't too expensive.
Nice looking bike! Your steepest climb on the 100 mile route is Mam Nick. Quite a climb on a 42 x 28....depending on how fit you are!

I think what they are referring to is modern tri-spoke wheels. Any wheel from that era would be suitable but remember some of the descents on the L'Eroica Britannia are quite steep and technical!

Regarding the "mud-bath" Christmas Festival last weekend at Bakewell Showground, the traffic was backed up from the B 5056/Picory Corner junction into Bakewell....so it's not just L'Eroica...
Matlock Cycling Club are holding their double hill climb this weekend, Sunday 23 October. Riber hill in the morning and then Bank Road in the afternoon, with a full field of 120 riders on Bank Road. (I think we had only 40 riders last year)
