Eroica rules for number of spokes for wheels.

28 spoke wheels were used extensively in the 1970s, but Eroica rules demand at least 32 spokes.....

How rigidly is this rule enforced in Eroica events??

I think what they are referring to is modern tri-spoke wheels. Any wheel from that era would be suitable but remember some of the descents on the L'Eroica Britannia are quite steep and technical!

And also some rough off road sections the rules aren't enforced either
But sturdy wheels will serve you well.

Thanks. I'm thinking of riding the Eroica 100 miler in June, and hope that 42 x 28 will get me up the climbs!

Also that by then, I'll be able to fit into my Molteni jersey

Nice looking bike! Your steepest climb on the 100 mile route is Mam Nick. Quite a climb on a 42 x 28....depending on how fit you are!

The technical descent is on the High Peak Trail heading down to High Peak Junction. The scenery is quite fantastic, especially when the sun is shinning! I'm sure you will have a great time....and fit in your Molteni jersey! :-)
