1998 Peugeot Festina - Team Replica

Re: Hi Neil, I don't know much about the full peugeot range, but the link below to the catalogues would help. https://www.bikeboompeugeot.com/Brochur ... ochure.htm Mine was bought in 1999, but is a replica of the 1998 team bikes. Well, at least the colours are anyway!

Re: Next up was the wheels. I had given it a few test runs, using an 8 speed cassette on some 10 speed campagnolo freewheel wheel, with a spacer to get it line. These run fine, but they are only a stop gap until I can get some Mavic Reflex SUP in blue built up into some record 36h hubs...

Re: I also had some issue with indexing the rear derailleur. I could get it to index, but it was very good, in either reliably reaching across the range of sprockets and took forever to shift. Now, I hadn't ridden this bike since the late 90's, but I was pretty sure it was quite slick, even if...

Re: Been a little while since I updated on this. The photos were part way through the rebuild, but I thought it would be good to show the condition of the frame when it was stripped down. As you can see, I was left with trying to either carefully treat the rust and touch in the areas, or a...

Re: I think you're right. Wouldn't be a surprise, as the frame was dedicated to cyclocross.

Re: Having striped the paint I have noticed a couple of braze on areas that I can't identify what they are for. Below is the inside of the fork blade. about 30mm below the braze on for the canti can be seen a small dot of braze only a couple of mm across. Could this be for a drain hole or...

Re: So, had some more time to strip the paint and its nearly there. below, the matching frame and fork numbers. Is there any clues on there on the type used for shop frames?

Claud Butler Cordon Bleu - Cyclocross

Re: The last photo of the bottom bracket area showing the matching frame and fork number. Does appear an error was made on the frame number as there is a '2' with a '1' laid over the top! Over zealous by the frame builder perhaps? And just by way of investigating the colour of this originally...

Re: So, bit of progress over the weekend, with removing paint. Nearly there, just some of the more difficult areas to get at. below, front end looks to of had the lower lug repaired at some point, or maybe strengthened. below, lovely close up of the seat cluster, with the topeyes. below...

    Holdsworth Cyclocross

Re: I don’t mind the green and it is a holdsworth colour from the period, but I may well follow the herd on this one and go for pumpkin orange! But I’m not 100% made up on this. I’m going to spray this myself as a bit of a lockdown project and something bright would help lift things! Although...

    Ephgrave No 1 - Road / Path

Re: Re: Thank you Terry. I was using yours as the reference for the transfers. I'll get around to ordering some from H Lloyd at some point. Have you ever registered yours with the Ephgrave register under classic lightweights? I've tried, but not response.

1998 Peugeot Festina - Team Replica

Re: And these are of the current turbo mule spec. The only original parts left, other than the frame, are the seat post and brake calipers. The original 9 speed mirage that was on it originally is long gone.

Re: Re: That was my thinking, although there is something about the colour that really works for me on this frame. I don't think it is the original colour, or even close to original, but it does seem to work. I have a bit of a queue, so not sure when I will finish it. I still have some other...
