when will this be considered a Retrobike?

@bikeworkshop I was told he got it unused. I know I saw it with some carbon bits installed, but never any wheels so it is probably good integrity wise, excepting what others said about resin deterioration. I think I got the age wrong by 10 yrs; should be from around 1990 or so.. Nothing I could...

when will this be considered a Retrobike?

Jesper's Carbitubo (essentially an Alan Carbonio); I don't think it has ever seen the tarmac. Will it fall apart after sitting for 45 yrs. Edit: 35 yrs not 45.

    Ofmega Sintesi Pedals refurb pics

I had some sintesi pedals. They cracked with limited use. I think oil/grease causes breakdown of the plastic. Possibly using synthetic lube will avoid that or at least prolong use. I recommemd cleaning as much excess lube as possible anywhere it contacts the plastic. I wouldn't be surprised if...

Stupid ? About Freewheel Cog spacing

Thanks @daccordimark I looked at Sheldon Brown site but I must have used the wrong wording; showed me OLD rear fork spacing instead. I assume that if I make it narrower I can use a narrow chain versus a standard 5/6 spd chain. I'll reference those links you provided. I do not work on older...

Stupid ? About Freewheel Cog spacing

I have never paid much attention to the cog spacing of early 5, 6 speed freewheels, but I experienced some issues with a couple wheel sets that were shifting oddly. I noticed an obvious difference of spacing between cogs where the chain would not engage without over shifting; primarily from from...

here's Lance Armstrong today. He's retro isn't he

i came here to check out the RBotM poll and got sucked into this which will put a bilious taste in my mouth to the day of my death since I KNEW he was a cheat upon his ex-wfe signing a nondisclosure agreement upon divorcing him. Why? She knew, and he could not afford the truth to be exposed...

rBoTM RBotM September 2025 - Open Month - Enter Now!!!!!!

Thought I'd share this to provide a bit of character insight and unveil a bit of Jesper's inventiveness since there is a classic bike involved and it kind of ties into the previous post's imagery. He builds cardboard and duct tape boats, and does artwork logos for them. He created a new "sport"...

COLNAGOS: 25 Years of Supers et al.

I am taking over the mantle of this thread and will curate additional posts. The author (Jesper) is a friend of mine who is willing to give me material to post in the future. Be advised that I do not have access to the bikes, parts, etc. so can only post that which is provided to me from the...

I apologize for posting this here; but it seemed the most aporopriate location due to prior comments. I got a reply from Jesper after trying email, text, and voice mail. I can say that his leaving this site has nothing to do with response or lack of response to anything he posted here; it is...

HPL's 1965 Robin Hood. While here I may as well add a humble 3spd that I got out of mothballs due to my Sports hub not engaging 3rd gear properly for some reason.

Just ckecking to see what has been entered this month, and I see my old friend has entered a bike but is no longer a member. We were former coworkers, cycling companions, and traded/sold bikes to each other over many years. I don't know what the reason is, but I am going to find out if possible...

rBoTM RBotM May 2025 - Open Month - Poll Now Up!! Vote Now!!!

Thanks @3wheeler7 I have no Sports models of those years (possibly an early-mid '40s Sports with no date stamp on hub; and a 64-65) so no drops. Are those bar/stems one piece or two? So for a 5 year period Raleigh made a Sports that actually looked "sporty" instead of utilitarian; very interesting.

Slim pickings, but nice mix. I was not aware the Sports came with a drop bar. Was that a factory option or a standard feature for a specific year or model variant? Hub type? Is no chainguard also stock? I had been mocked for wanting to make a path racer type bike out a Sports. Made perfect...
