How much is my road bike (or parts of) worth?

Thanks @bikeworkshop I picked it up for next to nothing so no problem. I can make a 27 hr wall clock out of it. It will give me 3 more hours to waste each day!

How much is my road bike (or parts of) worth?

Chater--Lea 27t 1" pitch. Originally stamped as 28 and over-stamped with 27. Large reinforced chainwheel, chrome is in good shape (a little minor rust at bolt holes), and no apparent wear on teeth. Curious as to what these go for and years of use.

Stupid ? Of the Month (a perpetual thread!)

The shoes I use had small plates for mounting slotted cleats, but the Look cleats do not use them so you could hear them rattle about regularly. When my sole separated from the upper I removed them and riveted the shoe back together (shoes are now bomb proof!). Now nice and quiet. Just went for...

Stupid ? Of the Month (a perpetual thread!)

@ChromeChainstay I did; removed rings for cleaning, and polished up the cranks a bit. Bolts were tight upon removal; and also after 30 miles of test rides. Thanks for the heads up though; it has happened before. We learn through experience!

Stupid ? Of the Month (a perpetual thread!)

After removal of spindle to flip it, I could definitely see slightly different wear at the races with more on the drive side; not much but still not even on both races. Upon flipping and readjusting I definitely got a tighter tolerance, but when I installed the drive side crank it seemed to be...

    Site Suggestions (and Issues) Thread

Hello all, I have been an infrequent contributor here (not sure how many years), but I am trying to increase my activity (mostly for help!). I believe I had seen this mentioned before on the "Road" forums, but I am bringing it to light here as I have seen no changes made. The site states...

Stupid ? Of the Month (a perpetual thread!)

I always put some grease on the threads to prevent galvanic corrosion and general rusting. I did a pedal swap just for giggles though I did not suspect that issue. One time while out of town (away from tools and parts) I experienced an odd knock that seemed cyclical (no pun!) while pedalling...

Stupid ? Of the Month (a perpetual thread!)

@vtwinvince Thanks. I need to pull it out to measure anyways (something I should have done during the overhaul just in case). I would use another cup, but only have Italian threaded ones, but I found a Chorus cartridge BB in my stuff with 1.37"x24 threads/102.5mm and should have Chorus cranks...

Stupid ? Of the Month (a perpetual thread!)

I should have done this open-ended thread with my first stupid question as I'm sure there will be more. I recently tore apart a BB due to having excessive (in my opinion) play and hearing a slight knock when pedaling; not feeling it though when pedalling or when manually spun w/o chain. It...

when will this be considered a Retrobike?

@bikeworkshop I was told he got it unused. I know I saw it with some carbon bits installed, but never any wheels so it is probably good integrity wise, excepting what others said about resin deterioration. I think I got the age wrong by 10 yrs; should be from around 1990 or so.. Nothing I could...

when will this be considered a Retrobike?

Jesper's Carbitubo (essentially an Alan Carbonio); I don't think it has ever seen the tarmac. Will it fall apart after sitting for 45 yrs. Edit: 35 yrs not 45.

    Ofmega Sintesi Pedals refurb pics

I had some sintesi pedals. They cracked with limited use. I think oil/grease causes breakdown of the plastic. Possibly using synthetic lube will avoid that or at least prolong use. I recommemd cleaning as much excess lube as possible anywhere it contacts the plastic. I wouldn't be surprised if...

Stupid ? About Freewheel Cog spacing

Thanks @daccordimark I looked at Sheldon Brown site but I must have used the wrong wording; showed me OLD rear fork spacing instead. I assume that if I make it narrower I can use a narrow chain versus a standard 5/6 spd chain. I'll reference those links you provided. I do not work on older...
