No. Auction frame does not have traditional lugs and what looks like a monostay. hard to tell the latter tbh.

I have seen them shift front, or rear. It has to be top tube or footshift for hotrods, and then stem, bar, brakes, or downtube on anything else.

In today's market, even in such great condition and with uts provenance, the price on this should be more £75 than £750.

I can't ever find a reason to have a shifter mounted there. If you can mount it there you can mount it somewhere more sensible.

I think the two bikes you have already purchased are more suitable and much better. Spend your money on them 😀

@vtwinvince - Crescent used Merckx frames from around 1986. He supplied them frames made with various tubesets and Crescent badged them up. I don't know how long this went on for, or how many EM frames they branded. Maybe until 1990?

A great rim the X618. Tough enough for light XC and not lardy.

I had my eye on that. It was a good buy. I did try and find out more info about those Thorn forks without any luck. Like rake, how much they weigh etc
