    Sturmey Archer 817 pedal cap

Hi Tom, I can't send a PM since I haven't been on the board long enough. However ... My username here is "cviebrock" ... that's "c" for "colin", then my last name. My email is my first name @ my last name ".ca". Hopefully that's confusing enough for the spam bots, but clear enough for us...

    Sturmey Archer 817 pedal cap

I’m rebuilding a 1980 Raleigh and noticed one of the pedals is missing the end cap. If anyone has an extra, or a similar vintage SA pedal that might use the same cap, let me know? I’m in Manitoba, Canada. Picture below isn’t my pedals, but it looks like they had the exact issue as I did: end...

    Raleigh Record ... maybe?

In the hunt for parts to complete my Raleigh Europa rebuild (see viewtopic.php?f=12&t=416379), I came across a Raleigh Record here in town. I thought at first that since it was made in Canada (as per the sticker on the frame, and the serial number: RA966595), that it'd be 24 TPI in the...

Need help with Raleigh Europa T1

Re: Re: I agree, that’s probably the easiest option at this point. I originally had thoughts of upgrading the drivetrain (so switching to a more modern bottom bracket), but that would have its own issues with thread size, etc., I suspect.

Need help with Raleigh Europa T1

Update: Still no luck removing the fixed cup on the BB. I'm convinced it was installed and then painted in the factory. The colour on the cup perfectly matches the frame, and the few areas of the frame where the paint is chipped don't show any colour underneath (so it seems likely that this...

Need help with Raleigh Europa T1

I found the serial number on the frame. Silly me looking under the bottom bracket and not realizing it was behind the seat post. NN0053503 ... which according to here means a bike made in Nottingham, in approximately October 1980.

That looks pretty slick, History Man! Do you have a post anywhere detailing the rebuild, or new components you used? I'd be curious to compare and get ideas.

Need help with Raleigh Europa T1

Re: Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I realize it’s reverse threaded (and likely 26TPI, which is why I asked about the ease of converting the bottom bracket). And, don’t worry ... my £1500 comment was meant tongue in cheek! I’ll be happy to just get the bike up and working again for myself. As...

Need help with Raleigh Europa T1

Hi all, and greetings from Manitoba, Canada. First-time poster here with my first road bike project. At first, I was just looking for a cheap retro 10-speed frame to strip down, repaint, and build up with new 2x10 componentry. But I happened upon a Raleigh Europa, and the more I read about...
