    Raleigh, it's sort of retro'

To answer the final questions in PandaPodium's InstaGram = Buying a new Masi or Motobecane or AustoDaimler is easy, albeit a less than classic decision. As for protecting hallowed brands,.... well .... that horse left the barn many decades ago. Tho' I'm not sure that nostalgia is a selling...

    1" Threaded Steel Fork Recommendations

OOOOpps I goofed on my original post. SFP: I always hesitate to make reccos, butt....since you are a west coast neighbor I quickly checked CL Bicycle Parts here in Seattle for 1" threaded fork = steel/Campy dropouts $65. It adds nearby communities including Portland, OR and another option...

    Old Claud Butler Identification

Pulled from the above link = "1950-57 Digits in Two Groups, 3/4 and 4. (Exception 1940 & 1958" "Claud Butler Typical Number Format Reverses During 52/53. Either Format Occasionally Seen in all Years" The serial numbers on the chart do not correspond exactly to yours. Double check the serial...

Help identifying vintage steel frame — maybe Batavus, Peugeot or something else?

FWIW - My early 80's Batavus in Ishi022 has the serial number across the width of the BB.

rBoTM RBotM May 2025 - Open Month - Entries now open!!!!

Had been searching for a Clive Stuart for a good many years, finally found a frameset (perfect fit and in the race colourway, :)) only 20 miles away. Needed a fork tweak, and the gentleman who fixed that was also interested in assembling as he has a CS with a serial number not too far off my...

What's your Holy Grail among British frame builders?

Not a British builder expert, most of my prior rides have been Raleigh/Carlton all from 1970s. Kept a Holdsworth Special ('82?) branded as an Irish Harding, and a '72 Holdsworth 'special order' Harding mimicking a Pro. Have no idea the specific builder on either of them. I own a Clive Stuart...

    Delta brakes non-campy!

I found the Weinmann delta was tough to set up. No on-th-road experience. Still have them tho', and the bike to wear them.

Is a frame fit for 650b or 700c?

Reply that you are mostly interested in 650b tyres - could they confirm size on tyre? Easy Peasy

The Weird and Wonderful Bicycle Components Thread!

Another Delta style brake - weird for sure - I have never seen another set here in USA = Weinmann I am not sure how wonderful - have yet to mount them on the intended rider (which stops well enough with dual pivot calipers).

    Lugs, lugs, lugs!

Some lugs were made for ornate, some just look plain business - lugs & crowns w/ long points.

    Clive Stuart Cycles

thank you for the reply. With a frame number 181, it should be 60's, but I have no idea how many frames were produced. I have seen an Alec Bird frame with the fastback seat cluster, but it would be a bit of a leap to say he brazed it. 1975 Alec Bird | Flickr and here's a link to CS #216 that...

Brooks saddles and sit bone question.

My sitbones measure narrower than the OP. Recenty, a new B17 Imperial feels (to me) like it became 'broken-in' much faster than the last B17, which I sold. I also have a Swallow and to accommodate the more aggressive / lower position I had an expert make as large a cut-out as we agreed was...
