What's your Holy Grail among British frame builders?

Not a British builder expert, most of my prior rides have been Raleigh/Carlton all from 1970s. Kept a Holdsworth Special ('82?) branded as an Irish Harding, and a '72 Holdsworth 'special order' Harding mimicking a Pro. Have no idea the specific builder on either of them. I own a Clive Stuart...

    Delta brakes non-campy!

I found the Weinmann delta was tough to set up. No on-th-road experience. Still have them tho', and the bike to wear them.

Is a frame fit for 650b or 700c?

Reply that you are mostly interested in 650b tyres - could they confirm size on tyre? Easy Peasy

The Weird and Wonderful Bicycle Components Thread!

Another Delta style brake - weird for sure - I have never seen another set here in USA = Weinmann I am not sure how wonderful - have yet to mount them on the intended rider (which stops well enough with dual pivot calipers).

    Lugs, lugs, lugs!

Some lugs were made for ornate, some just look plain business - lugs & crowns w/ long points.

thank you for the reply. With a frame number 181, it should be 60's, but I have no idea how many frames were produced. I have seen an Alec Bird frame with the fastback seat cluster, but it would be a bit of a leap to say he brazed it. 1975 Alec Bird | Flickr and here's a link to CS #216 that...

Brooks saddles and sit bone question.

My sitbones measure narrower than the OP. Recenty, a new B17 Imperial feels (to me) like it became 'broken-in' much faster than the last B17, which I sold. I also have a Swallow and to accommodate the more aggressive / lower position I had an expert make as large a cut-out as we agreed was...

Talking with my friend we wondered whether each shop made several types of frames or whether builders at each shop had their specialty. Paul Washington was known for wrap-over stays, would he have also built the fastback seat clusters - or did perhaps Alec Bird do the fastback stays? More pics...

    Clive Stuart Cycles

This looks like the best place on the interwebs to post a recent addition to my group of vintage road bikes. Acquired a Clive Stuart frame+fork, serial 181 on both. Bike purchased in Seattle and seller knew nothing of its' history other than he bought it used in Seattle took the Campa parts...
