    dx shifters - indexed?

Thanks for this Carl I'm now a little confused as I thought we were all talking about electrical contact cleaner? This is brake cleaner. Is this the same stuff???

    dx shifters - indexed?

Re: Got myself a can through amazon, sounds like a workshop essential - where has it been all my life?! Will remember to abstain from hard liquor before embarking on the nitty gritty work of disassembly/reassembly. Sage advice!

    dx shifters - indexed?

Re: Impressive, most impressive. I might be better to avoid the grief of fixing this only to end up with a broken plastic ring! I would have thought that by fitting newer shimano shifters this shouldn't be a problem, I was thinking the ST-EF 20's. Any opinions either way? Are they cheap muck or...

    dx shifters - indexed?

How about ez fire shifters - easy and cheap to get a hold of and perhaps a little better now given that they are still produced by shimano? I think my dx levers are probably beyond redemption from all that has been said by the resident gurus.

Re: Nice one - thanks for that. Not many out there for sale that I can see. I'll have to develop some patience!

    dx shifters - indexed?

Re: That sounds less than positive as a diagnosis :) I'll look into treating myself to a new set. Can't remember whether removing the cables is straightforward on these shifters? Will I need new cables too? Anyone got a spare set they would like to sell me?

    dx shifters - indexed?

Re: That's the fella's! Although they look a little more battle worn to be fair. I remember opening up similar shifters when I were just a lad and had the horror of springs and tiny parts flying off into the grass never to be found again! Twenty years later I wonder whether it would be wise to...

    dx shifters - indexed?

Hi folks I've just fitted some old school integrated (sti) shifters and was hoping they would be indexed but it seems not. I have to feel my way through the rear sprockets rather than click and go. Is this normal for this age of shifter (1990)? If so I'm happy to keep them but if there is...

    Chainrings for retro cranks

Just what I needed to hear (having just bought one prior to asking the question!) I was worried because the teeth all look the same ie not individually moulded as the shimano ones were. I'll go ahead and get the set now! Thanks hamster!

    Chainrings for retro cranks

Hi Folks Same old problem - can't find a replacement like for like replacement part for a set of xtr m900 cranks. What will work that's out there now and brand new. I'm thinking I need to be able to rely on a steady supply of these over the next few years of riding but now worried that there is...

    Marin decals

Re: Thanks guys - I'm realising that the rockstar forks were a 91 introduction, lightweight at 740g as opposed to the spinners which were 1kg in weight and made with Tange tubing. Some people seem to like the spinners but I'm not so sure they are better than the lightweight rock stars. Happy...
